Malaysia Airlines bans babies from first class (29-06-11)

London:  Malaysia Airlines has banned babies from first-class cabins after wealthy passengers complained they were not able to sleep peacefully during their flights, a media report said.
The airline - which operates out of Kuala Lumpur - imposed the baby ban on the first-class cabins of its Boeing 747 jumbo jets, the Daily Mail reported.
Tengku Azmil, Malaysia Airlines chief executive officer and managing director, said he imposed the ban after the company received complaints from "well-to-do" passengers whose sleep had been disturbed by screaming children.
Travellers with babies will instead have to book seats in economy or business class cabins, which are equipped with bassinets.
Azmil said on Twitter the ban was imposed due to "many complaints from 1st class pax dat dey spend money on 1st class & can't sleep due to crying infants (sic)".
The ban will take effect on flights from Kuala Kumpur to London, Amsterdam and Sydney.
Airlines like British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are also considering creating children-free flights
