No rape in Bhatta-Parsaul: NHRC report (23-06-11)

NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has ruled out rape at Lakhimpur Kheri police station and at Bhatta, Parsaul villages. An 800-page interim report on Bhatta-Parsaul says no rapes took place - contrary to Rahul Gandhi's claims.
The report, submitted on Monday, also states that farmers hadn't lost their lives in numbers as claimed by the Congress General Secretary.
Another probe team scanned records and evidence on the Lakhimpur Kheri rape case and says the minor girl found hanging inside the police station premises was not raped.
The report also makes serious accusations against the cops for alleged excesses committed during operation. NHRC commission will meet later this week to prepare a final report.
The recommendations will be sent to state government once the report is final.
